Huinnyeoul Culture Village

Atop the steep walls of the Jeoryeong Coastal Trail, a stunning view of Huinnyeoul Culture Village unfolds, with small houses clustered along narrow alleys that trace the coastline at the cliff’s edge. This area marks the starting point of the refugees' difficult lives, which eventually transformed into the thriving cultural community we see today. Huinnyeoul-gil, one of Busan’s historic downtown centers, derives its name from the flowing water at the base of Bongnaesan Mountain, which resembles white snow.

In December 2011, the village’s aging houses were remodeled and transformed into a distinctive Culture and Art Village that reflects life in Yeongdo. Even those unfamiliar with the movie The Attorney can recognize its famous quotes, which are painted in bold letters on the wall of Jinwoo’s house. Visitors often start their journey in Huinnyeoul Culture Village by taking their first photo in front of Jinwoo’s wall, a well-known landmark at the village’s entrance.

Huinnyeoul-gil features 14 alleys lined with cozy cafés, workshops, and independent bookstores, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The ocean breeze gently winds through these alleys, while greenery growing between rocks adds a touch of tranquility to the daily routine. A must-visit spot on Huinnyeoul-gil is Huinnyeoul Jeomppang, a charming eatery where you can savor delicious ramen while gazing out at the expansive ocean. After a long day of walking, a meal here brings a peaceful moment of reflection.

The road eventually reconnects with the Jeoryeong Coastal Trail, bringing travelers back to the path between the cliffs and the sea. Before the trail existed, the Huinnyeoul Trail along the village walls was the only route to Taejongdae Park. As you walk, the sound of waves accompanies you, and your eyes remain fixed on the ocean. The anchoring basin, where small and large ships dock, appears like tiny dots scattered across Busanhang Port—a unique sight that can only be experienced in Yeongdo.
