The scent of perfume can be a symbol of one's identity, as well as a vessel for memories. With thousands of specially crafted perfumes on the market, there are countless raw materials used in perfume making. At the Parfumeurco perfume blending workshop, I had the opportunity to experience the mysterious process of creating my own signature scent. It was not only a feast for the senses but also a journey of self-discovery. The first step in blending a perfume is selecting its three main layers: top, middle, and base notes. The top notes are the initial scents that greet the nose, forming the perfume's first impression. The middle notes represent the perfume's heart, showcasing its character and style. The base notes are the long-lasting undertones that linger, leaving a lasting impression. With the guidance of a perfumer, I carefully chose my favorite scents from a wide range of fragrance oils, then refined my selection through a second round, recording the unique characteristics of each essence. The blending process requires patience and focus to appreciate the subtle changes of each drop. As I added different raw materials into the blending bottle, I could almost sense them intertwining and reacting in the air, creating a brand-new chemical fusion. This mysterious process was fascinating—the combination of citrus and woody notes brought a refreshing yet deep complexity, while floral and musk notes added warmth and sensuality. Every drop had to be measured with precision since even a slight adjustment could alter the overall fragrance. After multiple rounds of blending and testing, I finally created a scent that felt uniquely mine. As it gently absorbed into my skin and warmed with my body temperature, the fragrance seemed to merge with my essence. It was an irreplicable scent—an artistic masterpiece born from the careful extraction, combination, and balance of countless raw materials. More than just a bottle of perfume, it became a personal story and a unique signature that made me stand out in a crowd.
